Miracle at St. Anna
Tom Fleischman w/ Spike Lee in New York
Amazingly, Tom Fleischman is working on his 11th feature film for Spike Lee: Miracle At St. Anna, based on the best selling novel by James McBride. The film is due out in the second half of '08, and it's always a pleasure to have Spike and his crew in the shop.

The Soundtrack Group was very proud to support the Nantucket Film Festival this year. Soundtrack and Finish worked alongside Brand Content, including producer Melanie Walsh and Chief Creative Director Doug Gladstone, to create a video for the festival's Screenwriting and Storytelling Award. This year the honoree was Judd Apatow, the screenwriter credited with such films as Knocked Up and 40 Year Old Virgin. Among the films screened at the festival was Well Founded Concerns directed by Tim Cawley of Hill Holliday. Finish's own Reuter edited the film and Mike Secher did the sound design and audio mixing. The festival was packed with unbelievable films, talented filmmakers and plenty of celebrity sightings. Congratulations to all the participants!
Finish at the A.I.C.E. Awards
It's been a fantastic quarter for Finish! We were very excited when we found out that not one, but TWO of our editors were nominated for the "Best of Boston" award at the 7th Annual A.I.C.E. Awards Show, held at the Gotham Hall in New York City. The Soundtrack Group would like to congratulate Reuter for being nominated and Toar Winter for taking home the award (pictured above - Toar was camera shy). He was nominated for his work on "Mr. Breakfast," a :60 McDonald's spot for Dollar Menu Breakfast Food. You can check out "Mr.Breakfast," along with the other award-winning spots, on A.I.C.E.'s website. You can bet that we are already hard at work trying to make it two years in a row! Finish is busy cutting spots for Mullen, Hill Holliday and Arnold. Andrea Papazoglou, Executive Producer for Finish Editorial, said "The event was a blast and honored the work of editors, colorists and vfx artists from across the country. We were proud enough to have both Reuter and Toar nominated, but were overjoyed when Toar Winter was named the winner in the category."

Stage G Coming Soon To Boston

Soundtrack Boston is currently building a film style ADR room that will be fully equipped with a Panasonic video projector and a 90" Stewart projection screen, much like the ADR stage pictured above at Soundtrack Film & Television in New York. Thanks to the tax incentives in Massachusetts, Boston has been thriving with film work. Since 2006, Massachusetts has realized $545 million in direct new film-based revenue compared to $6 million the year before the tax credit was approved, according to the state’s Department of Revenue. We are all very excited about "Stage G," especially Kevin Jette, who will be running the room.
New Production Space Up For Grabs
Soundtrack New York recently added 4,000 square feet of production office/cutting room space near our mixing stages at Broadway and 21st Street. The space includes 10 rooms, lounge and kitchen space, plus a small outdoor platform for those who are 'nicotine challenged.' Some of the big assets are 3 Avid systems with unity storage, as well as on-site tech/assistant editor help, wi-fi, phones, fax, copiers and printers. "The space will help us be more of a complete resource from pre-production, to picture cutting, to sound prep and mixing," remarks COO Christopher Rich. "Combined with our space on 22nd street (another 8,000 square foot floor), we've got the capacity to be the defacto home for several productions at once." The history of the space is significant, it was Soundtrack's only presence in NYC in 1982, when the NY studios first opened. At the time, 3 recording studios serviced the growing advertising and record business.

Soundtrack Boston also has production space available in Boston, which is pictured above. We have 1500 square feet of fully customizable space now available at 162 Columbus Ave. The rooms are fully furnished, with phone lines and wireless internet hooked up; it's ready for a group to make themselves at home for everything from pre-production, to extras holding, to editing suite rentals.
