Seasoned Superhero Adam West Records VO for LendingTree
From L: Sarah Hurley, Beth Gimbrone, Adam West, Zeke Bowman (of Mullen), Mike Secher & Mona Marimow (of Mullen)
The legendary Adam West, best known for his lead role in the original Batman as well as the voice of Mayor West on Family Guy, recently made an appearance at Soundtrack Boston. Mr. West stopped in to record VO for LendingTree with Account Director Mona Marimow and Executive Producer Zeke Bowman of Mullen Advertising. Boston Engineer Mike Secher engineered the session.
Mr. West is the voice of LendingTree's latest advertising campaign called "You to the Rescue," which encourages the everyday person to take control of his/her own financial destiny (like a superhero) and battle the "financial tomfoolery" and "fiscal fiendishnes" of today's economy. Soundtrack's longtime client Mullen Advertising is the mastermind behind this new and exciting campaign. It features a re-branded website ( LendingTree.com), online advertising and a variety of new radio and TV spots. In these new ads, Mr. West revisits his 1960s Batman persona and gives inspirational pep talks to the everday person. Click here to watch two of these new LendingTree TV spots, and keep an eye out for more to come!
NY Records Stars of New Production of "Dreamgirls"
From L: Syesha Mercado, Moya Angela, Scott Cannizzaro & Adrienne Warren
This July, Soundtrack NY had the pleasure of recording the stars of the new touring production of Dreamgirls. The tour will launch this coming November at NYC’s historic Apollo Theatre in Harlem. The Apollo is famous for birthing the careers of artists such as Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Sammy Davis Jr. and hundreds more, not to mention this season marks the 75th Anniversary of the venue. This theatre is the perfect home for the musical, which is all about the struggle and launch of a young 1960’s “girl group” and their rise to success and fame.
Moya Angela, who plays Effie White, is coming from the tour of Disney’s Lion King. Syesha Mercado, who portrays Deena Jones, is recognizable as a finalist from Season 7 of Fox’s American Idol. In the role of Lorrell Robinson, Adrienne Warren joins the cast as a recent graduate of Marymount Manhattan College. She has starred in productions of The Wiz, Little Shop of Horrors and the 25th anniversary of Dreamgirls, which also starred the Broadway legend, Jennifer Holiday.
New York Engineer Scott Cannizzaro recorded the trio singing three of the show’s hits, which reflect the era in which the show is set. The entire score of the show is in the vein of 1960’s Motown music, resembling the work of artists such as Diana Ross and the Supremes, and Martha Reeves and the Vandellas. Scott engineered the session with Advertising Producer Joe Stevens of Stevens Advertising, a Boston ad agency which is known for their expertise in the performing arts. Stevens Advertising has worked with Soundtrack for nearly 20 years and is a steady client of Boston Engineer Kevin McLaughlin. The two were joined by DJ Martin of Type A Marketing, a New York based company that specializes in Broadway and National Touring productions; Musical Director Mat Eisenstein; the show’s Director Robert Longbottom, who is known for staging Broadway’s Side Show and the 2003 revival of Flower Drum Song; and the show's Producer John Breglio. With the talent being in New York, Joe Stevens made the trip here to Soundtrack NY, to capture these charming songs for advertisements for the show.
Scott was “blown away” by the talent in the room and was pleased to have the opportunity to work on a project that was a great change in pace from the daily routine. “The girls were fantastic!” he said and “a joy to work with.”

Finish Cuts Trailer for New Documentary "Lemonade"

Finish and Soundtrack are excited to be a part of a film by Boston based copywriter turned filmmaker, Erik Proulx. Erik was laid off from Arnold/Boston in 2008 and immediately launched Please Feed the Animals ( http://www.pleasefeedtheanimals.com), a blog “for the recently unemployed advertising professional.”
The film, titled Lemonade, was shot over three weeks in Los Angeles, New York and Boston. In it Proulx profiles 15 current and former ad professionals who have taken the opportunity of unemployment to do something totally unexpected.
Kurtis Glade lost his job as a creative director. Now he is making a documentary about surf camps that help kids with Cystic Fibrosis, including his daughter. Former Account Supervisor Jeanne Schad is now the owner of a business coaching firm with over 150+ coaches in her network. Then there’s David Cohen, the copywriter whose layoff was the catalyst to become what he always felt he was meant to be – a woman.
Finish’s Pete Warren cut the trailer for the film which can be seen here: www.lemonademovie.com. Marc Colucci of Picture Park directed. Bruce Bolden did the color correction and Tim Montgomery did the online. Soundtrack’s Brian Heidebrecht did the mix .

A Note from Rob
For over 30 years we've been steering The Soundtrack Group to a place where it has the size and capability to handle the largest national ad campaigns and mixing of A-list Hollywood features, yet small enough to know that you like your mocha lattes with just a dash of sugar. This newsletter is our way of keeping you in touch with the things that The Soundtrack Group is doing to use developing technology, a terrific staff and a little chutzpah to handle your projects.
