Transfering Projects Using OMF

Soundtrack can accomodate project transfers using the OMF (or OMFI) interchange format. Please use the following guidelines to prepare your project:


OMF Transfers to ProTools systems

Make a copy of the Sequence/EDL to be exported
Delete all video tracks from the copy
Remove all unneeded audio elements from the copy
Select OMF or OMFI Composition Version 2.0
Select File Format AIFF or AIFC (do not use any audio or data compression)
Leave 60 frame audio handles on each clip
Select the option to Embed all Media into the OMFI file itself
Export your optimized sequence copy to disk

The will create a single large file that contains all audio media. The file name of the exported OMF sequence should contain a maximum of 24 characters and a .OMF file extension.

If you have not used OMF before, we strongly recommend performing an OMF transfer test with us before the day of your job.
